Engineering Technician.
Public Works Department. City of Grand Island is looking for a qualified candidate to fill their Engineering Technician position.  This position assists with overseeing and conducting technical engineering work, including manual and computer aided drafting, surveying, engineering inspections, special studies and data collection and entry.  Three years of increasingly responsible technical engineering experience.  Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by formal training, construction technology, engineering or a related field is required.  Two year Associates Degree in drafting, construction technology, engineering or a related field is preferred.  Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.

SD Public Assurance Alliance (SDPAA) Executive Director. The SDPAA’s Executive Director is the principal executive officer of the Pool and will act on behalf of and report to the SDPAA Board of Directors.  The Executive Director shall supervise and control the day to day operations of the Pool and shall carry out the policy of the organization as established by the Board.  These duties include providing administrative leadership, implementing and monitoring policies, marketing, financial analysis, vendor management, serving as board and member liaison, and program development.

The position is expected to be filled within a salary range of $115,000 - $175,000 annually depending upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.  The benefit package for the position includes group health insurance and retirement package through the South Dakota Retirement System pension benefits. 

Professional Experience and Qualifications. Qualifications for this position are normally acquired through at least ten years of experience in a leadership role for a risk management and/or insurance related organization.  A desirable, but not required, academic background and designations may include an undergraduate or graduate level degree in business or public administration, finance, risk management, insurance or a related field; credential designations obtained through one of the various insurance industry organizations are also desirable, but not required.  The successful candidate will have the experience, education and credentials that, in combination, demonstrate the abilities to successfully lead the pool.

Director of Public Works. The City of Hays, KS is looking for its next innovated Director of Public Works. The Director of Public Works reports directly to the City Manager. This position is responsible for the planning, directing & coordination of operations of five divisions: Streets, Planning, Inspection, & Enforcement, Airport, Stormwater, & Solid Waste. The Director of Public Works is responsible for the long-range planning & development of the department. This position’s job duties include working closely with engineering firms, preparing & administering annual budget for all divisions, preparing Capital Improvement Program & Airport Improvement Projects, & serving as the Stormwater Superintendent for the City of Hays.
REQUIREMENTS

105th Legislature adjourns sine die May 23, 2017

Lawmakers adjourned sine die May 23 on the 86th day of the 90-day session. A list of interim study resolutions appears on the Legislature's website. The League of Nebraska Municipalities will be following a number of interim studies this year. Hearings on these studies will likely begin later this summer and fall. 

 

 

The League of Nebraska Municipalities is a nonprofit organization of cities and villages that was established in the late 1800s to represent municipalities in the Legislature. The League’s functions include sponsoring educational seminars, publishing a magazine and newsletters, representing its member cities and villages on state advisory boards and answering technical questions.
